Security forces destroyed two “Maoist” hiding places in Chhattisgarh; grab guns, explosives

Police said on Sunday (23 March 2025) that security forces have recovered caches of guns and explosives from two Maoist hiding places in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh.

“Maoist hills were excavated on the forest hills of Markanguda Village near the Dur security camp on Saturday, and Maoist dumps were excavated in the forest near a new camp in Mettaguda Village on Saturday,” an official said.

He said the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), its elite unit Cobra (the commando battalion where the commando takes action) and regional forces were involved in these operations.

The official said they recovered six single-barrel muzzle-loading rifles, two 12-bore rifles, a country-made rifle, 20 live shells of barrel grenade launcher (BGL), 12 detonators, splinters, cordex wires, safety fuses, ammunition, gun powder, on country made bomb, 80 pieces of iron angles, equipment used in making BGL shells, a Maoist uniform and several other items.

“The materials are hidden in the forest, part of the Maoists’ plan to launch an attack on security forces during patrols in the area,” he added.
