Cybercrime Police Department will be established in each area: Anitha

Vijayawada: Home Secretary Vangalapudi Anitha reiterated the coalition government’s commitment to ensuring the safety of women and children. She reviewed SPS and ASPs in Guntur, Palnadu, Bapatla, Prakasam and Nellore areas on Saturday.
The Minister announced the establishment of a cybercrime police station in all regions to strengthen the prevention of digital crime. She praised the Prakasam district for recording zero cybercrime cases in the past three months, citing effective coordination with prosecutors.
Anita praised Guntur and Bapatla for their cybercrime recovery efforts and pointed to partnerships with private institutions and the ongoing awareness campaign in Nellore. She stressed that 30 pocso convictions have been secured since the league took office, reflecting its concern for justice and child protection.
Sensitive locations such as the High Court, the Secretariat, the capital region, party offices and political leaders’ residences have also been supported. Ten new police stations have been proposed under modernization work.
Anitha criticized the previous YSRC government, saying police recruitment and infrastructure have been ignored. Surveillance systems including CCTV, fingerprints and cameras wearing bodies have been invested in Rs 100-1.2 crore, she said. CCTV now helps resolve nearly 70% of criminal cases. It is planned to install 5,000-10,000 CCTV cameras per area and citizens are encouraged to install them in houses, shops and schools.
She also highlighted the successful deployment of drones in Kotappakonda and Bapatla Beach to prevent crowd monitoring and crime prevention. Bapatla’s lifeguards are being trained under the SDRF program to better rescue operations.
Anita added that a proposal has been submitted to the CRDA for 8 acres of land in Tullur for police housing. Recruitment of 6,000 police officers is underway, with the recent court permit to promote 95 batches of CIS to DSP.
Earlier, the Minister inspected the Guntur District SP office and participated in the Swachh Andhra – Swachh Diwas program.
