Senior photographer PV Sivakumar dies

Senior photojournalist and former special news photographer Hindu and BusinessLine PV Sivakumar (66) died Sunday after a heart attack.

The award-winning photojournalist collapsed in his bathroom in the photographer’s colony in Banjara Hills and was taken to Apollo Hospital near Jubilee Hills where doctors tried to rejuvenate him. He was pronounced dead at 3 p.m. His wife B. Satyavani and son PVSS Satyananth and daughter BVN Ramya survived.

Mr. Sivakumar was born on November 19, 1959 in Sindri, Bihar, where he went to school, and his father moved to Hyderabad to join Kendriya Vidyalaya in Golconda. He is a Bachelor of Science (B.SC) graduate from Osmania University, but his passion for photography has made him a professional journalist photographer.

He joined the Indian Express in 1985 and turned to Visakhapatnam Edition Hindu 1993. He was later transferred to Hyderabad and in Hindu and Indian Business Line Similarly, and voluntarily retired in 2015.

Mr. Sivakumar was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the United Andhra Pradesh Government and several other awards were awarded by the Association of Photographers.

The last ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Mahaprasthanam, family said.

CM expresses condolences

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was shocked and saddened by the sudden death of senior photographers in a message and expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families who had lost their loved ones.

Mr Revanth Reddy said Mr Sivakumar has been widely recognized for his contribution to journalism and has received several prestigious awards, including the “Best Photographer” honor. The Chief Minister noted that Mr. Siva Kumar also pursued several professional qualifications and was a highly respected figure in the field. “He is an outstanding photographer and his legacy will be remembered. I would like to express my sincere condolences to my family,” he said.

Former cricketers VVSlaxman and Shivalal Yadav begged Mr Sivakumar to be outdated.
