Seven people killed in Gujarat firecracker factory, rescue operation is underway

Seven people were killed on Tuesday after a firecracker factory explosion and a fire and collapse occurred in the Banaskantha district of Gujarat on Tuesday, officials said. The incident occurred in a unit near the town of Deesa.

According to preliminary information, the factory located in the industrial area exploded, causing fire and collapse in parts of the building, leaving several people trapped in rubble.

“As many as seven workers died in the incident and operations are underway to evacuate rubble and rescue those trapped,” said Banaskantha Police Department Akshayraj Makwana.

Firefighters in the city of Disa were emitting fire. According to officials, an operation is underway to rescue people trapped in rubble. Police officials said the state’s Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team was also on site to assist in the rescue efforts.
