Seven whole-party teams occupy India’s anti-terrorism world

More than 40 members of parliament (MPs) were divided into seven party-wide delegations, including at least one minority and one female MP, and would soon conduct global missions in 30 countries to convey a strong message of India’s zero tolerance for terrorism.

The initiative was launched after Operation Sindor, which came after the Pahalgam terrorist attack on April 22 claimed 26 lives. The delegation will visit several countries, including permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, to strengthen India’s national consensus on terrorism and emphasize its political determination to unite.

On Saturday, the Parliamentary Affairs Department announced the leaders of these delegations: MPs and former external affairs Shashi Tharoor, Ravi Shankar Prasad and Baijayant Panda of BJP, NCP-SP, Supriya Sule of Supriya, Kanimozhi of DMK, Kanimozhi, Sana sanjan shinjhah shinde shinde and jd (u) of Shiv Sana. These senior leaders will lead one of seven delegations.

Among the seven delegation leaders, four were from the ruling National Democratic League (NDA), including two from BJP allies and three from opposition Indian group. The government stressed that cross-party representation has been ensured and that each group includes minorities and women legislators.

The government also invited several outstanding leaders who are not currently members of Congress. These include former Jamu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, former Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid, former Union Minister MJ Akbar and senior politician SS Ahluwalia.
The government has carefully selected the expressive leaders of the entire political divide, reflecting a rare unity of national security and foreign policy.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MEA) will provide a detailed briefing for the delegation early next week and has initiated the visa process. The delegation will also hand over a comprehensive archive, including an overview of the Pahalgam attack and the Sindoor operation.
