Shah may reveal new surrendered C’Garh Nassar’s recovery policy

Reibull: Union Home Minister Amit Shah plans to arrive here on Friday night for a two-day visit, which will likely reveal the newly surrendered Naxal recovery policy of the Chhattisgarh government.
Mr Shah plans to attend from Raipur to Dantewada in South Bastar, Chhattisgarh on Saturday to attend the closing ceremony of the “Bastar Pandum” festival organized by the state government to showcase the art, culture and cuisine of tribes in the region.
Sources show that Mr Shah is most likely to reveal the newly surrendered Naxal rehabilitation policy in Chhattisgarh on this occasion. The policy has recently been approved by the national cabinet.
The key feature of “Chhattisgarh Naxal Surrender/Victim Relief and Rehabilitation Policy-2025” is the “holistic” care of surrendered Maoists, even the reward of Maoist “infantry”, and a bounty of Rs 50,000 that can convince their Maoist relatives to surrender.
The policy aims to provide higher salaries, free education, medical facilities and job opportunities for victims of violence in Naxal. Official sources said the policy also envisions proper recovery and legal support for surrendered Naxals in order to reopen their lives.
The compensation given in the case of death of “Gopniya Sainik” (police whistleblower) is that those who provide special assistance to anti-Naxal operations have increased from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 1 lakh (compensation due under the central plan).
Similarly, compensation given for the person’s permanent disability has ranged from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 5 lakh.
If murder, serious injury or permanent disability to civilians is provided, 1.5 hectares of agricultural land, or four decimal places (1,742 square feet) of residential land in urban areas. If land is not available, financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh will be provided to victims in rural areas and Rs 8 lakh in urban areas.
In the event of civilian deaths, aid of Rs 1.5 lakh will be paid if the government work cannot be provided to family members.
Sources said Mr Shah planned to review the security situation in the left rebellion of Raipur on Saturday night before bringing his tour to Chhattisgarh. EOM
