Nationalist Congress Party (SP) supreme Sharad Pawar said on April 30, 2025 (April 30, 2025) that he supported Congress’ need for Parliament to discuss the recent Pahargam terrorist attacks, highlighting the need to put forward a joint state position.
Pawar told reporters after attending a religious event in Osmanabad that the terrorist strike in Kashmir was a “serious problem” and said all parties should stand together on national security issues.

Mr Paval said: “Some colleagues recommend discussions in Parliament. When the country faces such challenges, it is important to show solidarity.” However, he avoided explicitly confirming the special session and noted that the government must evaluate the necessity in accordance with procedures.
Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi had earlier written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to seek a special session to discuss the attack. While expressing solidarity with the victims, Mr. Paval said: “The government must take appropriate steps and we will support constructive measures.”
On April 22, terrorists attacked a tourist group in Pahalgam in Anantnag, killing 26 people and injuring several others.
When asked about a possible settlement between Uddhav Thackeray (Shiv Sena UBT) and Raj Thackeray (MNS), Mr Pawar said: “If such an effort is made, it would be a positive development.”
His response to his commentary on his selective participation in religious activities, which he sees as “misleading.” He clarified: “As Chief Minister, I visit Pandapur and Tula Bhavani temples regularly.”
Pawar’s statement was published during a debate on security and political solidarity in the Kashmir attacks. As official consultation continues, further clarification of the proposed parliamentary discussion is awaited.
