An emergency meeting of the monitoring committee led by the Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) to handle complaints related to workplace harassment of women in the Malayalam film industry will be held here on Monday (April 21, 2025) to decide on the allocations of suspected drug use and misbehaviour raised by actor Vince Alexious against her co-star Shine Tom Chacko on a film set.
The issue fell into controversy in a video posted by Ms. Aloshious on her social media page, a male co-star who did not perform well with her after approaching her with the excuse of helping her.
She has filed complaints at the KFCC, the Malayalam Film Artists Association (AMMA) and the Internal Film Complaints Committee (ICC). Although she did not disclose her co-star and the name of the film, she suspected her complaint leaks indicated that she had filed a complaint of misbehavior and suspected that her drug use was in the film’s position. Soothravakyam.
KFCC Secretary General Saji Nanthiyattu said on Friday that an emergency meeting of the monitoring committee, a 29-member monitoring committee, will be held at 3pm on April 21 to discuss the complaints filed by the actor.
He said the committee was established on the recommendations of the Kerala Women’s Commission after the Kerala High Court directed film production companies to form an internal complaint committee under the workplace sexual harassment (prevention, prohibition and remedy) bill (POSH bill). The court issued the directive based on a petition filed by the film collective women.
The committee consists of 27 members representing various film institutions and two members of the Kerala Women’s Council. Mr Nanthiyattu said complaints about drug abuse and harassment against the film location will begin.
Amma begins detection
The three members appointed by the AMMA Interim Committee explore the complaint filed by the actor and will issue a notice to Mr. Chacko seeking his response to the allegations. The committee composed of Sarayu Mohan, Ansiba Hassan and Vinu Mohan has sought details of the events related to the film Soothravakyam.
Although Ms. Aloshious is not a member of the casting agency, since Mr. Chacko is a member, the film agency told her to file a complaint before the complaint was made. It is well known that the interim committee has not yet submitted its time frame for the three member committees to submit their reports.
