Establishing a permanent infrastructure for Medaram Jatara: Seethakka

Warangal: Panchayat Raj Minister Seethakka said all development efforts in the upcoming Medaram Maha Jatara must be permanent and of high quality. The minister chaired a review meeting with regional collector TS Divakar and officials from various departments of Mulugu Collectorate to assess preparations for Jatara, which is scheduled for next February.

Commonly known as the “Kumbh Mela of the South”, Medaram Maha Jatara attracts millions of devotees and makes careful planning crucial. Seethakka informed officials that the state government approved Rs 1.45 crore for Jatara, an additional Rs 5 billion will still be available compared to previous Jatara.

She directed the work to start at least six months in advance, unlike previous years’ hastily made efforts in the last two months. With Medaram Maha Jatara and Godavari Pushkaralu going to be held next year, the minister stressed the need for integration and detailed planning.

Seethakka called for the beautification of the temple house and allocated Rs 5 crore to develop a seating area near Jampanna Vagu, especially for children and the elderly. Instruct officials to determine priorities as early as possible, prepare cost estimates and ensure sustainable implementation.

The Minister also stressed the importance of providing clean drinking water during the event to ensure hygiene and hygiene. She recommends using previous Jatara’s CCTV footage to review past challenges and effectively address them. Police departments are asked to take precautionary measures to maintain law and order. Collector Divakar said several officials in charge of the last Jatara are still in service and their experience is crucial to the success of the upcoming festival.
