Dhaka: The Bangladesh Provisional Government on Saturday had decided to ban the country’s oldest political party, the Awami Alliance. The Bangladesh Provisional Government banned the Awami Alliance. The press release further clarifies that the decision is intended to protect national security and sovereignty.
“The Advisory Committee meeting discussed the need to protect the security and sovereignty of the country, the security of the leaders and activists of the July Movement, and the protection of plaintiffs and witnesses of the International Crime Tribunal until the trial of the Awami Union of Bangladesh and its leaders and their leaders had been cancelled to prohibit all activities including the Awami League, including Sased cyberspace, including Sase Peripice, ”
Several political parties and groups in Bangladesh, including the National Civil Party (NCP), Jamaat-e-Islami, are protesting around the residence of Muhammad Yunus, the chief adviser of the provisional government, demanding a ban on the Awami coalition.
Awami Alliance Chairman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was expelled from power on August 5 last year in a massive uprising. She is currently exiling. After Sheikh Hasina fell, she formed a provisional government under the leadership of Nobel Prize winner Muhammad Yunus.
Currently, almost all Awami Alliance leaders and workers are hiding. Although the party’s senior leader, former Bangladesh Abdul Hamid’s former president, was under the radar, he flew to Bangkok with his wife and brother-in-law early Thursday morning.
The protests began in front of Jamuna at 10 p.m. Thursday.
“The primary responsibility of the Provisional Government is to ban the AWAMI Alliance. We have already put forward demands both inside and outside the government. But today, nine months later, we have to take the streets again to ban the AWAMI Alliance.”
