Shop owner helps Chittoor police recover gold decoration worth Rs 2.5 lakh

Shop owner Vinayak returned gold jewelry to its owner, Yoganandam, at the II Town Police Department in Chittoor on Sunday.

Chittal City Police recovered gold decorations worth Rs 2.5 lakh on Sunday and handed over the property to the owner within half an hour of receiving the complaint.

In the morning, Yoganandam, a contractor from Gangadhara Nellore near Chittal, purchased two rice bags from a store in the city’s Chinna Vishnu Bhavan centre. While loading the bag onto his car, the contractor dropped his luggage containing about 240 grams of gold jewelry. Later, he went to Bangalore.

After arriving in Bangalore and realizing that his schoolbag was missing, Yoganandam rushed to the II town police station and filed a complaint. Chittoor Urban inspectors Nettikantaiah and Maheshwar and a team from the crime department conducted the investigation. They start with the location where valuables are reportedly missing.

Seeing the police team, a local shop owner, identified as Vinayak, he told police that he found unclaimed luggage lying on the road and ensuring safety. The bag was intact and was handed over to the police. After verifying the content and CCTV footage, the police returned the bag to Yoganandam. As a gesture of goodwill, the contractor offered Vinayak a cash reward of Rs 5,000.

Police Chief (SP) VN Manikanta Chandolu also acknowledged Vinayak’s gesture.
