A senior government official said on Monday (April 28, 2025) that the Pakistan Rangers had not yet communicated with the Border Security Force (BSF) (where the hell was inadvertently trapped in neighboring countries six days ago.

The official said West Bengal resident PK Sahu had crossed four to five meters to Pakistan, adding that unlike the usual practice, the Pakistan Rangers have not issued a protest statement to the BSF about the incident. A notice of protest is usually issued within a few hours of such incidents.

The official said there were several flag meetings with the Pakistan Rangers, but they had not yet known the whereabouts of Mr Sahu.

“The Pakistan Rangers deployed very thinly along the border. The border is not often protected by them. On the day of the incident, they appeared at the scene and informed them that they had arrested the officers before taking him away.”

Mr. Sahu of the 182nd Battalion was arrested by the Pakistan Rangers on April 23 while accompanying the farmers outside the fence on April 23. With the fence and border gates located about 150 yards, farmers were allowed to farm the land to the neutral line, i.e., the international border. This defensive construction is not allowed in open areas outside the fence.

“The meeting was held with the Pakistan Rangers, but it appears Jawan has taken it from the Rangers Post. His whereabouts are not yet known,” the official said.

Last week, Pakistani media released two photos, one showing Mr. Sahu in his eye mask and the other lying on the ground.
