SNDP: 13 components in Phase I still have no starters inside and outside Hyderabad

The monsoon may cheer for many people in soaring temperatures, but they also book tough days for residents who are bothered by the problems of roads and colonial flooding.
Works proposed and completed as part of the Strategic NALA Development Plan (SNDP), works proposed and completed may bring partial relief to multiple areas, but some places where these works are not acceptable will continue to suffer.
Although the civic authorities have moved towards SNDP Phase II by calling for tenders for various works, so far, five works have not started so far. Officials cite various reasons, from the lack of right of way and the difficulty of transferring utilities.
Works related to the storm drainage pipes related to Mohini Cheruvu on the Ottomanian University campus have not taken off yet because the Amberpet police line area lacks the right of way.
An official notified that he declined to disclose details about the issue.
He said a decision from the police department is still pending. The proposed drainage outlet for the culvert from Saroornagar Lake to Chaitanyapuri was again encountered, reportedly due to opposition from local residents.
Even though Nala is intended to pass along the road, residents of the pre-trade community are opposed because they will block the road and cause inconvenience to them.
The official said the planned drainage collection from Shah Hatim Lake to Musi River has not yet begun with permission from the archaeological department.
There are two more Nala expansions in the southern region, and the changes in utility have become a major problem due to the extremely narrow lanes.
According to conservative estimates, SNDP was conceptualized in 2021 during the devastating floods in October 2020, when at least 50 people were washed away. The project aims to provide relief to several areas by expanding stormwater drainage, chain linkages between lakes and accelerating the evacuation of flooding into the Musi River.
A total of 52 jobs/components were proposed, under SNDP Phase I, with an estimated expenditure of Rs 858 crore. Responsibility to implement 33 works within the city have been handed over to GHMC, while the rest are implemented by their respective municipalities.
However, GHMC ultimately had to fund several municipalities, which lacked the means to carry out cost-intensive engineering. The responsible officials informed that eight tasks were not started outside the GHMC.
