Meet the director, who made his debut in Bollywood, was accused of stealing and facing legal issues and is now making a comeback.

His abbreviation was born in Kallakurichi, Tamil Nadu, and paid tribute to his father. Interestingly, he adopted the nickname after his release premiere.

The famous Indian filmmaker has had a significant impact on the Tamil film industry as a director, producer and screenwriter. He enjoys making high-octane action movies in Tamil and Telugu, and he has also successfully reinvented several of his projects in Hindi cinemas. He was the first Bollywood movie with a box office of over Rs 1,000 crore in the country. His abbreviation is Kallakurichi of Tamil Nadu, and his abbreviation is “AR”, paying tribute to his father Arunasalam. Interestingly, he adopted the nickname after releasing his debut film, Dheena, in 2001. Yes, we’re talking about Ar Murugadoss.

Ar Murugadoss studied in government high school and studied his bachelor’s degree at Heber College in Tiruchirapalli. His film career began as an assistant director of Ratchagan (1997). He made his debut on the directorial stage of Dheena (2001), and later entered Bollywood with Ghajini (2008), which starred in Aamir Khan and Asin and earned Rs 100 crore in the country. He then went on to direct successful films by Thuppakki (2012), Kaththi (2014) and Sarkar (2018) and along with Vijay. He is currently one of the most successful directors. His last film was Darbar (2020). Now, after five years of gap, he makes a comeback with a much-anticipated film Sikandar, the protagonist of Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna.

In 2018, a lawsuit was filed against Murugadoss in a scene in his film Sarkar, whose film Sarkar is a political satire starring Vijay and Keerthy Suresh, which shows people burning plans for the release of the Liberal Government. Murugadoss’ brief appearance in a scene in Sarkar has sparked controversy. But the Madras High Court finally dismissed the three-year case, ruling that once the examiner cleared the film, he could not raise objections to a particular scene or dialogue, thus giving Murugadoss a relief.

Murugadoss has also faced theft charges many times. He was accused of stealing the story before Sarkar was released. Similarly, his film Ghajini was criticized for allegedly lifting the plot from a souvenir of Christopher Nolan, prompting Aamir Khan to intervene and clarify that the film is not a copy. Additionally, Murugadoss’ 2014 film Kaththi is involved in the stolen controversy, with writer and director Minjur Gopi claiming Murugadoss stole his script. Although the issue was reportedly resolved in court, GOPI’s debut work Aramm solved a similar concept, raising questions about Kaththi’s originality.

In addition to Sikandar, Murugadoss also has the Tamil action thriller Madharasi starring Sivakarthikeyan, Biju Menon, Vidyut Jammwal and Rukmini Vasanth. The film was produced by N. Srilakshmi Prasad and produced by Sri Lakshmi movies.
