Pentagon head Pete Hegseth dismissed a report of sharing military information with his wife

U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth fought back with support from the White House on Monday – a reported discussion of Yemen’s air strikes with his wife, brother and lawyers.

The Pentagon chief allegedly included details about the strike in a private chat – a second accused of sharing sensitive military information on the commercial messaging app with unauthorized people.

Hegseth said at the White House: “That’s what the media does.
Hegseth faces growing criticism, with three former partners writing a statement condemning their firing, while his own former Pentagon press secretary almost called for his removal.

Several Democratic lawmakers said it was time for Hegseth, a former Fox News co-host and veteran of the Army National Guard, with no experience with government or political experience.

“Trump’s Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has now leaked confidential military plans twice – this time through unsecured signals chatting on personal devices of friends and family. He is a walking national security disaster that requires resignation or being fired. The agency he wants to lead, he should stand up, admit that he has been distracted from the military’s mission and resign.

“Total chaos”

Last month, Atlantic magazine revealed that its editor-in-chief was accidentally included in a signal chat, where officials including Hegseth and national security adviser Mike Waltz discussed the March 15 strike in Yemen.

The revelation sparked a commotion, and the Trump administration was forced to defend due to the leak. The Pentagon Inspector General’s investigation into Hergs’ use of signals is underway.

The New York Times and CNN reported Sunday that Heggs shared information about the same strike in a second signal group chat.

According to the Times, the shared information includes the flight schedule of fighter jets targeting the Hessey rebels in Yemen.

The chat includes his wife Jennifer, a journalist and former Fox News producer, as well as his brother Phil and attorney Tim Parlatore, both of whom have held roles in the Pentagon and cited anonymous sources.

Military information in the chat was reportedly released after other turmoil on the top of the Pentagon, three senior officials were removed from office after an investigation into the alleged leak.

Former senior advisers Darin Selnick, Dan Caldwell and Colin Carroll hit Sunday, and Pentagon officials “a baseless attack made our characters slander.”

“We are still not told exactly what we are investigating if an active investigation is still underway, or even a real investigation into the beginning of the ‘leak’ start,” they said in a joint statement posted on social media.

Hegseth’s former Pentagon press secretary John Ullyot also targeted him in a stern point of view on Sunday, which described “a month of chaos in the Pentagon.”

“President Donald Trump has a strong record of considering his senior officials. Given this, it’s hard to see Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth last longer in his role.”
