In the ongoing controversy, adolescence co-creator and writer Jack Thorne said it was ridiculous to connect knife crime to black boys. He also clarified that the show’s storyline is entirely fictional and not based on any particular true crime, which is contrary to the online claim to be circulated.
He told him on the News Player podcast: “They claimed that Stephen and I were based on one story and another, so we switched the game because we based it on her and ended up there and everything else. That wasn’t the case.”
