Special drives in Manyam area to control malaria

Visakhapatnam: The Parvathipuram Manyam government has launched a special motivation to curb the spread of malaria in the region.
Officials have identified 248 villages with a population vulnerable to malaria.
As a preventive measure, the malaria department has begun indoor residual spraying (IRS) starting May 1, which will continue until June 15.
Officials said June, July and August are key months for malaria transmission in the region due to its geographical conditions. In addition to the IRS, the department has also conducted blood screening tests to identify malaria patients and provide them with treatment.
Regional collector A. Shyam Prasad has directed officials to prepare a meticulous plan to control malaria and ensure that deaths are not achieved due to the disease. The plan includes chlorine sources, preparation of oil balls, and other precautions to deal with the situation.
This includes releasing the Ganbor fish into the water to control mosquito larvae and spraying materials to check mosquitoes for spread.
Collectors say the digital vehicle Giri Chaitanyam will be on the road soon to raise awareness of malaria and other issues within the public.
