CM Naidu asks health officials to eliminate bird flu

Vijayawada: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has asked health officials to completely eliminate bird flu from Andhra Pradesh.

“Antiviral drugs are available at all health centers on Friday, he said during a review conducted by the Secretariat with a five-person central team and state officials.

The central group informed CM that the causes of the deaths of the two girls were bird flu and other health problems. They visited the girls’ residence in Balaiah Nagar in Narasaraopet, Panadu District.

They said that although samples collected from the girl tested positive for H5N1, there were other reasons for her death.

“The girl ate a piece of raw chicken without proper immunity and suffered from leptospirosis. Poor hygiene caused her death. Currently, we found that people in the area have no symptoms of bird flu. We conducted a survey involving eight health workers. There was no cause of panic,” they said.
