Tesla CEO Elon Musk

Elon Musk lost $121 billion in 2025, but remains the richest person in the world.

Elon Musk’s 2025 wealth loss is the world’s largest billionaire

Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s net worth fell by $121 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaire Index. This makes him the biggest loser among the top 10 wealthiest people in the world this year. Despite a sharp drop, Musk remains the richest person on the planet, with an estimated net worth of $311 billion as of April 10.

Other billionaires also face losses, but not on the same scale. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos lost about $36.5 billion, Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg saw a $13.9 billion decline, while Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates’ wealth fell by $2.57 billion.

The biggest reason for Musk’s decline in wealth is the sharp decline in Tesla’s stock value. Investors are increasingly worried about the company’s performance and unpredictable market conditions. In just three days, the world’s top ten wealthiest people lost $172 billion, and during that period Musk lost only $35 billion.

Even with these setbacks, Musk’s wealth is still huge. His wealth comes mainly from his shares in Tesla, as well as SpaceX and other businesses. As early as December 2024, Musk’s net worth exceeded US$400 billion.

In addition to financial issues, there is increasing concern about Musk’s participation in political affairs. He is known to be close to former President Donald Trump and has been working with the federal government to reduce waste and spending. Some investors fear that this might distract him from Tesla’s role.

The incident involving Tesla facilities is also disturbing. Several locations were targeted by vandals and even gunfire, the report said. Authorities are studying whether the attacks can be related to Musk’s political participation.

Meanwhile, Tesla’s stock continued to struggle, further promoting Musk’s wealth decline.
