Uppal IDA drainage overflow trouble

Hyderabad: Drainage water has been spilling over the upper floors before the DSL shopping center for the past two days, causing inconvenience for commuters and people passing by. However, locals say problems occur every time it rains.
According to locals, the drainage line overflows almost every time it rains and the water is still on the road. “The overflow water has spread all over the road, making it slippery and dirty. Although the problem is near the sidewalk, it smells odor and is problematic for pedestrians.”
“This happens every time it rains. The water overflows and spreads on the road, making it difficult for us to walk or ride,” said Jitendra.
Another pedestrian, Goutham Viraj, said: “It’s not just water – it smells bad. The authorities should fix it correctly, not just cleaning it occasionally.”
Officials from the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water and Sewage Treatment Commission (HMWSSB) said the level of the road is lower than that of nearby roads, which leads to water collection.
“Water overflows as rainwater and garbage are trapped on the production line. We are working to clear the drain line to fix it and plan to fix it permanently,” said Santhosh Kumar, general manager of HMWSSB.
