Srinagar tickets remain at reasonable levels; airlines operate more flights: Naidu

New Delhi: Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu said on Wednesday that tickets for Srinagar flights are being monitored and maintained at a reasonable level, with three more flights going on Wednesday to travel to tourists from the city.
At least 26 people were killed on Tuesday after the Pahalgam terrorist attack in southern Kashmir, tourists made unexpected requests seeking to return home.
Naidu shared photos of passengers waiting outside Srinagar Airport and allocated water dispensers on water dispensers outside Srinagar Airport, saying the airport handled 20 flight departures with 3,337 passengers on Wednesday between 6 a.m. and 12 p.m.
In an article on X, the minister said it has been working to ensure that tourists from Srinagar travel safely.

According to him, strict instructions were given to the airline company to avoid any waste of fares and the fares are being monitored and maintained at reasonable levels.
The minister’s comments also come from the background of some websites, apparently showing that the ticket price of Rs 50,000 to Srinagar is over Rs 50,000.
Aviation regulator DGCA on Wednesday asked airlines to increase the number of flights from Srinagar to facilitate the return of tourists following the Pahalgam terrorist attacks.
“The airport is providing food and water, and an additional tent has been set up outside for those waiting. Srinagar Airport handled 20 departures with 3,337 Pax today from 6am to 12pm,” Naidu said.
The minister also said he was monitoring the situation himself and staying in touch with the Ministry of Home Affairs and airline operators.
