A 35-year-old history performer died Sunday near farmland in his border village between Vellore and Ranipet.
Police said the deceased was identified as K. Ayyappan, who had at least 10 criminal cases against him.
The initial inquiry showed that Ayyappan lived with his parents. A few months ago, he began building his own house in his farmland. He also participated in agricultural activities.
Since he did not return from the farmland he went to Saturday night, his father, B. Karuppan, went to the scene on Sunday and found his son lying in blood. He immediately reminded the Tirouaran police, who arrived at the scene in an ambulance. The body was transferred to the Government Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
The case has been registered. Police are analyzing CCTV footage on the route to narrow down the suspects. Detection is underway.
