State allocates 2,708.3 cr for MGNREGS

Hyderabad: Telangana has prepared a work plan of Rs 2,7083 crore for the implementation of employment guarantees under MGNREGS, while the Panchayat Raj department has prepared detailed plans for employment generation in rural areas.
Of the total amount, Rs 1,625 crore will be used for wages and the remaining Rs 1,083 crore has been used as part of the material. According to officials, Telangana has obtained approval from the centre, with working days this year of Rs 65 crore, down from 80 million last year.
However, last year, the state created a total of 120 million working days due to employment demand in rural areas, and the area was approved by the center, but this year, the limit of 650 million was restricted, with clear instructions not exceeding this limit.
Meanwhile, as summer really kicks off, temperatures across the state have soared, the government has directed collectors in all regions to follow orders issued earlier this month to ensure people don’t use the employment assurance program when they work.
In the past few days, due to reports of some deaths caused, the collectors were told to follow these procedures and if anyone was found to succumb to a sun stroke, once the health officials determined the cause of death for the family, they should be listed in the recently issued officials to list a declared official to be declared as a senior official of Rs 4 lakh and announced one declared official. Even if there is no heat wave condition, workers are advised to take a break from noon to 3 p.m., officials added.
Meanwhile, sources said the state government pointed out that Gujarat did not lay off employees from Gujarat, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah came from, despite the reduction in working days quota for Telangana under MGNREGS this year. For Gujarat, the same 50 million working days as in 2024-25 were allocated for 2025-26, sources said.
In addition, the number in Bihar has increased significantly, and the election will be held in October or November this year. For Bihar, the working days increased from 170 million last year to 210 million this year. Government sources say the plan is intended to create jobs for those who need it most in all states, and it seems that the center is also using mgrnegs for political purposes.
Furthermore, despite the daily wage rate rise, the centre allocated only Rs 860 crore to MGNREGS this year, the same as last year. This seems to be a deliberate move to deliberately reduce the plan, which is crucial to the livelihoods of thousands of people. “It’s time for the union ministers from the BJP party Telangana to step up their fight for the poorest poorest people in the state,” the source said.
