Suhas Shetty murder case: Karnataka government forms anti-community contingent in Dakshin Kannada and Udupi areas

“The anti-social task force that is about to form will investigate past public riots. Looking forward, the police will take strict action against those who make provocative remarks. No matter how important a person's influence is, the police will take action. Even if they are political leaders, they will take action, act against them.”
This is the main defendant for the 2022 mob lynching Mohammed Fazil in Mangaluru in 2022 after Suhas Shetty was murdered. The Home Secretary said eight people were arrested for murder.
Parameshwara and Regional Chief Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao rushed to Mangaluru on Friday and had a high-level discussion with Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal and Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan to assess the law and order situation. Ministers reviewed security arrangements and called for peace to ensure strict action will be taken for those responsible for violence and disruption
Suhas Shetty murder case
According to police, the attack occurred around Kinnipadavu near Bajpe, in the suburb of Mangaluru on Thursday night. Shetty traveled with his colleagues when a group of five to six people were in the car and a pickup truck stopped them. The attackers allegedly attacked Shetty with sharp weapons and fled the scene.
According to PTI, he was seriously injured and was taken to AJ Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Police records show Shetty has registered at least five criminal cases, including murder and robbery, on Mangaluru and Belthangady Taluks. He was recently released after serving on previous crimes.
Mangaluru police enforced Article 163 in Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita across the city from Friday to May 6 after Shetty's murder.
“The order is intended to prevent potential outbreaks and maintain public order,” said Anupam Agarwal, a police commissioner in Mangaluru.
The directive prohibits public gatherings, meetings, parades, slogan propaganda, and carries anything that can be used as a weapon.
The police's decision was a sign of turmoil in the city, and the Viswa Hindu diocese expressed anger at Shetty's killing. Authorities are concerned that his murder will lead to community unrest, especially given the sensitive background of past violence associated with the Fazil Lynching case.
