Summer travel pushes gasoline sales to 10% in the first half of May

According to temporary sales data from state-owned fuel retailers, gasoline consumption increased by about 10% in the first half of May as demand for summer travel surged.

From 1.37 million tons of sales a year ago, gasoline consumption increased to 1.5 million tons. Its demand increased by 10.5% in 2023 from May 1 to 15, nearly 46% from the first two weeks of Covid Mar Mar Marter in May 2021.

Data from three state-owned fuel retailers, which controls about 90% of the fuel market, showed diesel sales rose 2% to 3.36 million tons. Consumption of the most commonly used fuel in India has rebounded since last month.

In April, diesel consumption increased to 8.23 ​​million tons, an increase of nearly 4% from demand a year ago. From May 1 to 15, diesel sales in the same period last year were higher than 3.29 million tons of consumption. It is 16% higher than 1.3% in 2023 from May 1 to 15, and 16% higher than the first two weeks of May 2021.

Diesel sales rose 5.2%, while 3.19 million tons were consumed in the first half of April 2025.

Summer-triggered attacks are rural demand for irrigation and air conditioning in urban areas.
