The Welfare Party of India (WPI) will conduct a week-long campaign across the state from April 20 to 27, requiring the center’s BJP-led government to withdraw the recent amendment to the WAQF bill.

WPI Kalaburagi Regional Chairman Abdul Saleem Chittapuri and State Secretary Mubeen Ahmad said in a press conference on Saturday that the week-long mass movement “protecting WAQF is our responsibility” aimed at highlighting the greater implications of the waqf (Amendment) bill passing Dharnas, dharnas, seminars, seminars, signature campaigns and distributed welfare and distribution of waqf (Amendment) bill.

Mr. Chittapuri stated that the amendments to the Waqf Act are an assault on the Constitution of India, which fundamentally conflicts Articles 14, 25, 26, and 29. He asserted that the amended Act removes the provision empowering the Waqf board to inquire and determine if a property belongs to Waqf, which will further pave the way for encroachments on Waqf lands and weaken institutional safeguards.

Mr Ahmed said the amendment to the WAQF Act allowed the central government to frame rules regarding registration and issued the WAQF board of directors proceedings.

He added that the amendment of the ordinance requires the inclusion of non-Muslims on the Central WAQF Commission and the State WAQF Board, which interferes with religious affairs and erodes the autonomy and rights of the WAQF Board and the entire Muslim community.

They said WFI will intensify its stirring before the central government revokes the WAQF Amendment.
