Suppress the smuggling of exquisite rice to Maha

Adilabad: Revenue law enforcement teams, civilian officials and local police have stepped up their vigilance against illegal transport of fine rice, which is distributed free of charge to Maharashtra through the Public Distribution System (PDS) in Komaram Bheem and Mancherial areas. Police took action on intelligence and discovered exquisite rice stored in private residences ready to smuggle at the border.
The survey shows that people who were previously involved in the transport of coarse rice (Doddu biyyam) are now using similar routes to smuggle various rice.
Smuggling activities focus on Mandals that share borders with Maharashtra, especially in Sirpur (T) and Kuntala Mandals. Raiders in these areas discovered illegal rice movements under the financial support of Maharashtra merchants, who were reportedly investing in local agents operating in the Telangana border village.
However, officials said illegal transport of rice to Maharashtra dropped by 60% after the state government began to provide quality rice to the BPL family compared to the thick rice (Doddu Biyyam).
Local agents bought rice from ration card holders for Rs 16-18 per kg and sold to Maharashtra agents for Rs 23 per kg. In turn, it retails to consumers in Maharashtra at a price of Rs 35-40 per kilogram, which makes the trade very profitable.
In the recent raid, police and tax task force officials occupied four kilometers of rice in the outskirts of Parigan village, with another 6.5 quintiles from an Anuradha house in Dorpelli village, Sirpur
