A funeral in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania turned into a frightening scene when the coffin and pallbearers carrying it fell into the grave. The incident took place at Greenmond Cemetery during the funeral of Benjamin Aviles Mirror.
Originally from Lares, Puerto Rico, Aviles has been living in North Philadelphia. He died on March 21 due to heart-related complications. When the accident happened, his family and friends gathered in the cemetery to say their final farewell.
The wooden platform that was supposed to be blocked gave way when the Pallbearers brought the coffin to the grave. The current video shows that the structure collapses, causing the coffin to fall directly into the grave with it.
Several people were injured in the fall, with legs, hands and back injuries. Aviles’ son is the worst injury. The coffin landed directly on him and he lost consciousness for a while.

Maribelle Rodriguez, Aviles’ stepdaughter, told ABC6 that the platform seemed unsafe from the beginning. “The whole thing is shaking. It’s swaying, the wood is soaked in wet and soaked.”
The family blamed negligence for the cemetery and funeral home. They believe the platform is in poor condition and have demanded apology and compensation. Rodriguez added: “Seeing the ceremony was interrupted.
The shocking fall video was shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), with many expressing concern and grief. Some incidents call the incident a “traumatic danger”, while others blame funeral organizers.
