Tahawwur Rana Canadian, not Pakistan: Pakistan Foreign Ministry | World News

Pakistan said on Thursday that Tahawwur Hussain Rana, the mastermind of the deadly 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attack, was successfully extradited from the United States to India, and over the past two decades, his Pakistan-Yuanjia Fund documents have not been renewed and should only be provided as a Canadian national.

“We have communicated our position on his Canadian nationality on the Tahawwur Rana. According to our records, he has not applied for his Pakistani origin document even in the last two decades. I reiterate this position.”

The National Investigation Agency of India (NIA) announced on Thursday that it had successfully extradited Lana “after years of continuous and consistent efforts to bring the main conspirators of the chaotic 2008 to the aftermath of justice.”

Rana, a 64-year-old Pakistani-born Canadian national, was taken to New Delhi and was held judicially in a lawsuit initiated by the United States for his extradition. After Rana used all the legal avenues to keep the action, the extradition was finally passed.

Rana is believed to have had close ties with Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and is accused of conspiring with David Coleman Headley, or Daood Gilani, and operates of designed terrorist organizations, the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and the Harkat-ul-Jihadi Islami (HUJI), along with other Pakistan-based co conspirators, to carry out the devastating terror. In the deadly attack, a total of 166 people were killed and more than 238 were injured.

The allegations against Rana include criminal conspiracy, wars against India, murder, forgery and violations under the Illegal Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).

However, Pakistan has clearly distanced itself from Lana’s extradition issue, and the spokesman concluded his statement, saying: “We will update further in due course”, which hints at Islamabad’s interest in the case.

With the extradition of Rana, India will have a key link to Pakistani nails and the 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attacks.

Despite the Indian government’s proposal of a series of archives, Pakistan has been denied its involvement.

The conspiracy behind Rana’s participation in the 26/11 terrorist attack in Mumbai was established by his childhood friends, and another key to being accused in the horror case was David Coleman Headley, alias daood daood said gilani.

Headley appeared in a special court in Mumbai during a video conference at an undisclosed location in the United States in 2016, where he revealed his Pakistani link.

Headley said he has been in touch with Rana and even accepted his permission to open a commercial office in Mumbai as a front for his activities.

In its charge form, the National Bureau of Investigation said Lana provided logistics, financial and other assistance to Headley and others involved in plotting the Indian terrorist attack.

Rana was convicted in the United States for his connection with Lashkar-e-Taiba and helped to attack the Danish newspaper that printed the comics of the Prophet Muhammad. However, the court cleared him of allegations of conspiring to attack on Mumbai on the 26/11. Rana is acquitted in the Mumbai case, but the trial reveals his connection to Headley.

The FBI said in a statement (January 2013) after his conviction in 2009 that he admitted to the terrorist activities of the attacks in Lashkar and Mumbai.
