Teachers protesting Bangladesh allow Gheraoed SSC chairman to leave the office after 40 hours

Part of protests against unemployed teachers, they siege at the State School Services Commission (SSC) headquarters on Wednesday morning (April 23, 2025) to allow its chairman Siddhartha Majumdar to leave the office after 40 hours.
Mr Majumdar is scheduled to appear in the Kolkata High Court on Wednesday (23 April 2025) for a hearing related to the OMR clip of the 2016 SSC recruitment test.
The agitators launched a demonstration at 2 p.m. on April 21, and he said their sit-in will continue.
Speech ptiMr Majumdar said he had returned home and would take a break before attending court proceedings on a schedule.
One of the protesters belonging to the well-deserved Teachers Forum said Mr. Mugadar was allowed to leave both because he had to physically attend the court and give him some imprisonment on a health basis.

“Our sit-in will continue as usual… After the court proceedings, after he returns to the office, Majumdar will be Gherao again,” he said.
The Kolkata High Court will hear a petition for contempt against the West Bengal Ministry of Education on Wednesday (23 April 2025), claiming it did not upload an OMR of 26,000 teaching and non-teaching personnel who were unemployed after the Supreme Court decision.
About 2,000 unemployed teachers launched an indefinite sit-in at SSC headquarters on April 21, and the committee promised to upload a list of contaminated and eligible candidates for the 2016 exam, but could not cite legal issues.
The teacher delegation met with the SSC Chairman on Tuesday (23 April 2025) and held discussions, which they called “partially satisfying.”
“We are happy with the 17,206 teachers’ list portion, of which 15,403 are eligible to be confirmed by the SSC,” Chinmoy Mondal, a deserving teacher forum, told reporters after the meeting.
Massive violations were detected during the 2016 recruitment process by the Supreme Court and the entire group was cancelled on April 3, with a total of 25,753 teaching and non-teaching personnel in state-owned and auxiliary schools unemployed.
The Supreme Court extended it to December 31 on April 17, and the terminated teachers’ services were not contaminated by the CBI.
