Tears are the historic theme park, the third largest roller coaster in the world ready to close

In 25 years, Six Flags will close a popular theme park because the company will have money problems.
The park in Bowie, Maryland will be on November 2, the final day of the annual panic event.
The park is most famous for its location as Wild One, a 108-year-old wooden roller coaster and the third largest wooden roller coaster in the world.
It’s 96 feet tall, allowing riders to speed at 45 miles per hour and remains one of the park’s most iconic attractions.
The park also has eight other roller coasters and Hurricane Harbor Waterpark.
The closure will leave 70 full-time employees unemployed, although the company says qualified workers will receive severance payments and other benefits.
The United States was originally established as a wildlife reserve, attracting about 850,000 visitors per year with six flags.
Daily tickets for Maryland Park are priced between $19.99 and $29.99, and fans can purchase a $150 season pass each.

After a few months of closure, the company announced it would invest more than $1 billion over the next two years to enhance the guest experience at all its parks.
This investment will be used for new rides, attractions, themed areas, dining upgrades and technological advancements.
More than $80 million will be spent on food and beverage upgrades, including the new restaurant concept.
Part of its recent and upcoming changes include seven new roller coasters for other attractions and all of their park passport add-ons.
While the new rides will be placed in various parks, the company believes the upcoming Maryland appeal is only worth benefiting six flags through reconstruction to generate high value and return on investment.
Gary Rhodes, a six-flag spokesman, revealed that global commercial real estate services are leading the current sales process.
“Based on its assessment and experience, we expect a strong interest from potential real estate developers,” Rhodes told Dailymail.com.
“There is currently no plan to close other parks,” he added.

With the closure of six flags of the United States and Hurricane Harbor, 42 entertainment and 14 water parks will be opened worldwide.
The company is weighing its options for Maryland attractions rides and whether it can be placed in other parks.
“We have not yet determined what happens with each ride or attraction after the park is closed, but relocation to six other flag parks or selling to other amusement park operators is an option to consider,” Rhodes told dailymail.com.
Six Flags completed in 2024 with revenue of US$2.71 billion Mergered with Cedar Fair in July last year.
With the investment and its soon-to-be-closed Maryland Parks, the company is working to complete the 2025 upgrade and continue all 2026 projects.
Changes next year include a new roller coaster, enhanced water park enhancements and six flags debut in the U.S. Children’s District.
The company has not announced plans to open any new entertainment or water parks in the coming years.
