Today’s weather: Strong heat waves hit Delhi, rising; showers are expected to bring relief in Odisha, MPs this week

India is preparing for the fusion of extreme weather, with parts of Northwest India and Gujarat exacerbating heat waves, while rainfall is expected to slam East India and the south.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning that heat waves and heavy rains will affect various regions from April 14 to 18.

Heat waves to northwest and west India

The temperatures in northwestern India and Gujarat have increased significantly over the next few days, with the highest temperature expected to increase by 3-5°C between April 14 and 18.
In particular, the temperature of Delhi-NCR will gradually rise, with the maximum value reaching 38°C to 40°C on April 14 and 41°C on April 15.

Heat wave conditions are expected to hit Delhi starting April 16, with temperatures rising to 40°C to 42°C.


From April 14 to 18, severe heat wave conditions in West Rajasthan may persist, with isolated pockets experiencing heat waves from April 16 to April 19. Weather agencies have also been warned on Gujarat, Madhya Pradhessh and utars and the Adversess, and weather sales agencies rarely experience high temperatures.

Rainfall forecasts in eastern and southern East India

Despite the hot heat in Northwest India, East India has been somewhat alleviated, with rainfall and thunderstorms expected to affect multiple areas from April 14 to 18.

Northeast India and eastern India, including Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, will experience spreading rainfall, as well as thunderstorms, lightning and storms.

Assam and Meghalaya are expected to see heavy rains between April 14 and 16, while Odisha may see intense showers from April 15 to 16.

The south is also not immune to downpour.

Tamil Nadu, Puducher, North Karnataka and Trangana will witness scattered rain and thunderstorms and gusts over the next five days.

Over the next three days, rainfall in Kerala, southern Karnataka and Mah is also expected to be isolated.
