Telangana DGP Jitender to SHOS

Hyderabad: Director-General of Police Dr. Jitender stressed the importance of building a human-friendly policing system and recommended that Station Officials (SHOS) work hard to serve the public's trust and justice. He spoke at an interactive meeting with SHOs from various departments across the state on Saturday at the DGP office.
Dr. Jitender draws attention to the fact that in countries like the United States, citizens often regard police officers as friends. He shared a personal anecdote about a friend's child in the United States who he thought the police were friendly characters when he told him he was talking to a policeman in India.
“This mindset should inspire the way we work to build confidence and kindness among our own citizens,” he said.
He reminded officials that fair and impartial service can enhance the police’s image and gain lasting goodwill from the public. However, he warned that prejudiced conduct or negligence could permanently damage the department’s reputation.
DGP also directed SHO to make thorough arrangements in its jurisdiction for the upcoming Miss World pageant hosted by the Telangana government. “It is a valuable opportunity for Telangana police to show their efficiency and professionalism on the international stage,” he noted.
He highlighted the key role of SHO in maintaining the highest state rankings of state police and urged them not to be complacent.
He added: “Achievement should not lead to relaxation. Maintaining our body shape is necessary. Any negligence or misconduct will be poorly reflected on the department.”
Other Director General of Police (Law and Order) Mahesh M Bhagwat stressed the importance of ensuring safety and security during Miss World events, especially considering the concerns raised by certain women's organizations.
Bhagwat stressed the need for strong measures to safeguard participants and the public, warning that there is a risk of forged seeds and pesticides entering the market as the agricultural season approaches. The officer was instructed to remain vigilant.
