DGCA Process India Express ‘tail strike’ at Tiruchi Airport

A senior official from the Civil Aviation Administration (DGCA) asked in detail about the “tail strike” incident of Air India Express when landing at Tiruchi International Airport on Saturday morning.

All passengers were safe and the plane took root after the incident. Airport sources said that about 150 passengers on board Air India’s flight from Dubai Airlines landed at Tiruchi Airport when the tail part hit the surface of the runway.

Sources said the airport’s air traffic control tower noticed the incident. After the passenger arrives at the bay, the passenger disembarks from the flight. According to the procedure, the incident is communicated to the DGCA for investigation.

Sources said a senior official from the Chennai DGCA came to Tiruchi Airport on Saturday night and investigated the incident. As part of the investigation, the official inspected the runway, aircraft and air traffic control towers and asked the airport authorities.

DGCA officials continued their investigation on Sunday before returning to Chennai. In this regard, a detailed report will be submitted to the senior DGCA authorities, the source added.
