Vijayawada Railway Department records the highest freight revenue ever recorded at Rs 4239.74 crore
Vijayawada:In unprecedented performance, Southern Railway’s Vijayavada division reached its highest ever freight, revenue and punctuality, setting a new benchmark for the 2024-25 fiscal year.
“The department recorded a 3.8322 million tons of initiated cargo load, surpassing the best results of 38.169 MTS set in fiscal 2014-15. This feat reaffirms the department’s commitment to excellent freight business,” said Narendra Patil, Division Railway Manager.
He said the sector also received the highest freight revenue ever of 423.974 crore, reflecting a 4.3% increase of 400,622.6 crore in the previous year. “This combined revenue for the sector was 583.661 crore, marking a 3.8% increase from last year’s Rs 56,254.2 crore, which is “the highest box office in history”.
Patil said initial freight revenue was 423.974 billion, a 4.3% increase from last year’s Rs 40,622.6 billion. “Passenger revenue was 138.614 crore, reflecting a steady growth of 0.12% for Rs 138.467 crore in fiscal 2023-24. Other coaching revenue (OCR) was USD 11.17 billion, an impressive 18% increase compared to USD 9.99.462 billion in fiscal 2023-24.”
“The passenger footsteps were 66.7 million passengers, a 4.8% increase from 63.6 million last year. The punctuality was the best 80.19% ever. The freight rate in March 2025 hit a 3.616 MTS cargo volume, which is a 25.60% increase in March 25.60% increase in March 2024, and a 3.550 range over the previous 2.879 mts and 3.5550 both occupy the 3.550 range. 10,913 rakes were loaded in the 2024-25 fiscal year.”
