Terror attacks in Jamu and Pahalgam in Kashmir killed several tourists, causing security concerns as Amanat Yatra approaches

Visitors from Rajasthan were injured in a terrorist attack in the Baisaran Valley in Pahalgam, triggering major security operations ahead of Amarnath Yatra.

A group of tourists from Rajasthan were attacked in the Baisaran valley near Pahalgam in Jamu and Kashmir. The shooting took place upstream of the valley, with several people reportedly injured. According to sources, it was a suspected terrorist attack and security forces quickly arrived at the scene.

So far, four people, including some local residents, have been injured. A woman reportedly called the Police Control Room (PCR) to remind authorities about the incident. Following the attack, a large-scale search was launched to find the terrorists involved.

The incident attracted serious concern because it happened a few days before the start of Amarnath Yatra. The pilgrimage will begin on July 3 and will last until August 9, 2025. Amarnath Yatra is one of the most important Indian pilgrims, seeing hundreds of thousands of devotees every year.

The attacks were not only a popular tourist destination, but also a key site on one of the two Amarnath Yatra routes. The first route passes Pahalgam, Chandanwari, Sheshnag and Panchtarni, while the second route starts from Baltal.

This was during the peak hours of tourism in Jamu and Kashmir, and such attacks were believed to be an attempt by cross-border terrorists to disrupt peace and stop Yatra’s stable behavior. Security is already on high alert, especially after the recent statement from the Pakistan Army Director.

Officials are continuing the search operation and the area is strengthening security to prevent any further incidents. The injured are being treated and are monitoring their condition.
