‘Tesla is not unscathed’: Elon Musk highlights the impact of Donald Trump’s 25% automatic import tariff

With the latest tariffs on automatic imports, Elon Musk, the world’s wealthiest man, confirmed that his EV maker Tesla will be significantly affected.

On Wednesday, the U.S. president signed an executive order to impose a 25% tariff on cars made in the U.S. that will take effect on April 2. These tariffs are intended to “strengthen U.S. manufacturing” and are expected to generate $100 billion in revenue.

“It is important to note that Tesla is not unscathed. The impact on Tesla’s tariffs remains huge.”

Users who posted the statement by Tesla owners on X highlighted how U.S. President Donald Trump’s latest automatic tariffs on several automakers impact.

“About 40% of all new cars sold in the United States are imported, so this tariff is a big deal,” the post reads.

Users share a segment of U.S. automakers and their share of goods sold worldwide.

Here is a breakdown of cars for sale in the United States:

•Ford: 77% in the United States, 21% in Canada and Mexico, and 2% in the other

•Stellantis: 57% in the United States, 39% in Canada and Mexico, and 4% in the other

•Nissan: 52% in the United States, 31% in Canada and Mexico, and 17% in the other

•GM: 52% in the United States, 30% in Canada and Mexico, 18% in the other

•Toyota: 48% in the United States, 27% in Canada and Mexico, 25% in the other

•Kia: 33% in the United States, 8% in Canada and Mexico, 59% in the other

Users further stressed that traditional automakers will find it difficult to adapt immediately when responding to tariffs, so profits will drop.
