Earthquake 5.8 strikes Afghanistan-Taijikistan border, tremor in Pakistan

The National Earthquake Monitoring Centre said Saturday’s 5.8 earthquake hit the Afghan-Tajikistan border. The depth of the earthquake is 92 kilometers (57 miles).

There is no report that the long distance from the earthquake caused the damage to life or property was recorded at 11:47 a.m.

The tremor was felt in various regions of Pakistan, including Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar, Rawalpindi and Khyber Pakhtukhwa.
The tremors in the areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bajaur, Malakand, Nowshera, Dir Bala, Shabqadar and Mohmand were reportedly causing panic among residents.

This is Pakistan’s second earthquake in the week, following Saturday’s Saturday’s capital, Islamabad, and part of Khyber Pakhtukwa and Punjab province.


Pakistan is often visited by earthquakes of various intensities. The deadliest U.S. attack in 2005 killed more than 74,000 people.
