AIADMK Secretary-General and Opposition Leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami staged a walk along with other AIADMK MLAS on Monday (April 7, 2025) to protest the decision of spokesman M. Appavu, not allowing discussions on the issues he raised at zero. It is judicial that the speaker refuses to accept discussion on this issue.
Speaking to reporters outside the conference, Mr. Palaniswami said he wanted to raise why Tasmac sought to transfer cases related to the Law Enforcement Bureau (ED) from the Madras High Court to any other High Court.
“The Enforcement Bureau raided the liquor distillery provided to Tasmac and said evidence has been found that there were economic irregularities pointing to Rs 1,000 crore. Tasmac (in this case, the judge withdrew himself.
“But Tasmac doesn’t want the judge to hear the case… So they mentioned a reference in the Supreme Court that all cases related to ED were transferred from the Madras High Court to another state. I want to bring it to the notice of the state government, but it doesn’t allow it, but it doesn’t allow it.” He wanted to raise the question on this question.
When the House Speaker and the head said that one case in court could not be discussed, we wanted to talk about why Tasmac wanted to transfer cases related to ED to other states. We think that if the Madras High Court heard the media coverage of Tamil Nadu in Tamil Nadu, if the Madras High Court heard the case.
Mr Palaniswami said: “When I was the Chief Minister, I filed a lawsuit against me in the Madras High Court. I faced it. Are we looking to transfer the case to other high courts? Tasmack is part of the state government…it’s not a personal issue.”
