With strong exceptions, the comments on the judiciary by the Communist Party of India (CPI) Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar of the Judiciary (CPI) asked Chief Minister and President of the TDP country N. Chandrababu Naidu to change his position on the WAQF bill.
Speaking to the media on Friday, CPI State Secretary K. Ramakrishna said that unfortunately Mr Dhankhar, who holds a constitutional position, made a comment directly on “attacking the judiciary”.
“Governors in many states are affiliated with RSS. They sit on bills passed by democratic elections for years, undermining the spirit of democracy. The Supreme Court recently ruled that the governors have no right to delay such bills. However, the vice president made unacceptable comments to the vice president of justice.”
Mr Ramakrishna said NDA allies such as Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar (seemed as secular leaders) supported the WAQF Amendment, “helping spread unrest across the country”.
“Mr. Naidu should be distanced from this controversial legislation,” he said.
Responding to a new proposal for acquiring 43,000 acres of government land capital projects in Amaravati, Mr Ramakrishna said the proposal to purchase another 43,000 acres of land suggests the government intends to focus on only one place.
“The people questioned that the government was only concerned about Amalawati and said it was inappropriate to ignore the overall development of the country. Does the development of the country mean Amalawati and polavaram?” he asked, referring to people in the backward region of the state.
