Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) is considering introducing WhatsApp-based communication to enhance engagement with passengers and stakeholders.
If implemented, the system will provide quick notifications for ticketing bookings, confirmations, cancellations and reminders. Public transit pass holders will also benefit from timely applications, renewals and status updates. TGSRTC also plans to integrate cargo and parcel services, allowing senders and receivers to track cargo in real time.
If WhatsApp messages fail to approach the recipient, they will be automatically redirected via SMS. To achieve this, TGSRTC invited bids from service providers with expertise in WhatsApp-based communications. The program aims to increase service efficiency, provide real-time updates to passengers, and reduce reliance on traditional SMS alerts.
Speech Hindu“Now, everyone is using WhatsApp to send messages. The shift to this platform is to facilitate seamless communication. Initially, we will start with the online passenger booking system. Then, we plan to expand it to other services such as public transport passes and renewals,” he said.
In separate developments, as part of the currency currency of monetary assets, the TGSRTC will soon begin leaseing several lands across the state. The company invited bids for these properties, which cover acres of land. This move is part of its revenue-generating strategy.
The identified land contains at least 20 properties. These include Khammam New Bus Station, covering 1 acre and 31 Guntas, Turkayamjal-2 warehouse, with 6 acres and 9 Guntas, Zonal Workshop in Karimnagar, distributed on 4 acres and 13 acres of Guntas, and a parcel in Sircilla, about one acre and 37 acres and 37 acres and 37 acres and 37 guntas.
TGSRTC has specified that leased properties can be used in Class A warehouses, logistics companies, auto service centers, showrooms, conference centers, hotels or resorts. However, rental of accommodation for educational institutions or hotels is not allowed.
