Cool weather reduces electricity demand in Telangana

Hyderabad: Compared to the last week of April, peak electricity demand for summer fell by 25 million units as temperatures dropped significantly. As a result, electricity purchased by the state’s electricity utilities have dropped, saving up to Rs 15 crore per day. The cool weather has benefited the state from Rs 1,000 crore in the past two weeks.
The state received 1.992 billion power consumption units on May 7, 2025, compared with 223.95 million units on the same day last year. So, from the same day last year, electricity purchased from Central Radio dropped to 6.271 million units (MU), while 88.251 MU.
The lowest demand in recent days was recorded on May 4, 197.377 MU, and the same day last year was 232.718 MU. Purchase and supply from Central Radio on May 4 decreased by 33.775 mu; on the same day last year, MU purchased 57.763 MU.
