Himanshu Thapliyal’s academic journey began with a JEE ranking of 5,83,000, which was not the beginning of a dream.
Himanshu Thapliyal is an alumnus of Nitk Surathkal’s 2023 MTECH Nanotech Batch, achieving an extraordinary milestone by securing all India Level 1 (AIR)1 in the UPSC Engineering Services Exam. However, his journey is far from a traditional instant success story.
Born in Uttarakhand and raised in Lucknow, Himanshu’s academic journey began at the 5,83,000 JEE level, which is comparable to what many think of as a dream start. He pursued Pithoragarh NPSEI’s electronics and communications BTECH, showing resilience and determination. His hard work paid off when he cleared the gate inspection and obtained NITK Surathkal’s MTECH nanotechnology program.
“Initially, it was hard to figure out what I wanted to do in my life. Nitk gave me exposure, good friendships and the clarity I needed to move forward,” Himanshu said in reflection on his time at Nitk. This period of change laid the foundation for his future achievements.
Himanshu’s goal is not limited to getting the highest ranking. For him, Air 1 is an important step to joining the Indian telecom service, a dream he pursues passionately. “With this level, I can finally achieve this. My focus now is on understanding the system, identifying where to contribute, and giving back to the community in various ways,” he shared.
Himanshu’s story proves the ability to persevere, work hard and turn challenges into opportunities for growth. His journey has inspired countless aspiring people to dream and continue to work on their goals.
