Due to the extreme poverty and financial struggles in her family, the actress had to start working from a very young age. That was when she had the opportunity to perform in the film and began her journey as a child artist.

When the actress was born, her father had always wanted to have a son. Disappointed by the birth of his daughter, he left her in an orphanage. But after a few hours he couldn’t stand the separation and he took her home.

At the time, he had no idea that the little girl would one of the most famous actresses in Indian movies one day. That actress is Meena Kumari, the leading lady and superstar in Indian cinemas in the 1950s. Due to her family’s extreme poverty and financial struggles, Mena had to start working from a very young age. That was when she had the opportunity to perform in the film and began her journey as a child artist.

In 1946, she played the leading role in the movie “Bachchon Ka Khel”. Over time, she has appeared in many popular films, not only as an actress, but also as a poet, a singer and a costume designer.

Meena Kumari, known as the “Trail Queen” of Indian films, has been active in the film industry for nearly 30 years. In 1952, she married the famous filmmaker Kamal Amrohi.

It is reported that Kamal set several conditions before marrying Meena. In a crazy relationship, she accepted them with a smile. His conditions include: not signing movies with other directors, avoiding exposing clothes, returning home by 6 p.m., and not allowing anyone to be in the makeup space. Meena agrees with all this, although as an actress, she may not fully realize how difficult it is to follow them.

It is reported that despite her deep love, Kamal Amrohi took Meena Kumari seriously. Her life changed completely after marriage – she couldn’t laugh publicly or even cry freely. Her dream of becoming a mother was not broken in one time, but three times, allegedly due to Kamal. Ultimately, in 1964, the couple had frequent arguments.

After the separation, Meena Kumari fell into alcoholism. Her health began to deteriorate, especially her liver. She seeks treatment in countries such as London and Switzerland.

In 1972, her iconic film Pakeezah was released and became a sensational hit. But, sadly, Meena Kumari died just a few weeks after her release. She was only 38 years old at that time. Her premature death shakes the entire Indian film industry.
