Guwahati: A tribal organization that caters to Kukizzo’s wishes called for a “separation day” to mark the “two-year separation from the Meti community” in Manipur.
The Indigenous Tribe Leaders Forum (ITLF) said the solemn days will be observed on the memorial walls of kuki-zo people who died in ethnic conflicts on May 3, 2023.

“This event will be a reflection and anniversary of victims of racial conflict, with a profound impact on the Kukizo community. It will adopt a range of programs including prayers and advice to the victims and their families, keynote speeches, organizational reports, organizational reports and speeches from various tribal leaders,” ITLF on Wednesday, April 23, 2025.
It added that a large part of the event will be the “Jangnadopna” ceremony, a traditional condolence ceremony to honor those who died in the conflict between the Kuki-Zo and Meitei communities.

“There will not be closed on that day. However, traffic flow will be restricted within and around the memorial wall to ensure the sanctity and smooth behavior of the plan,” the ITLF said.
More than 250 people have been killed in Manipur since May 2023 and about 60,000 have been displaced. Although the state has been relatively peaceful after the state imposed its presidential ruling on February 13, the Kuki-Zo and Meitei communities have avoided or been banned from traveling to each other’s territory.
