To support the rights of government employees and pensioners, opposition Bharat Rashtra Samesi (BRS) decided to launch a coordinated campaign to put pressure on the state’s congressional government to meet long-pending requirements and fulfill all commitments to them in the election.
As the main opposition, the leaders of the BRS asserted that they could not remain silent while government employees in service and retirement continue to face neglect and hardship, including excessive delays in pension benefits to those who retire after gaining retirement age.
A key meeting on the party’s plan was held on Friday at the residence of senior leader Harish Rao, chaired by the working chairman of the KT Rama Rao party. The meeting convened former leaders of the Employees Association, retired officials and representatives from various teachers’ unions.
Participants discussed the worsening over the past 18 months, accusing Congressional administration of failing to fulfill its pre-election commitments to employees. Core requirements such as cleaning up benefits (DA), implementing compensation revision committee (PRC) recommendations, and releasing pensions and retirement benefits are the focus.
Several participants expressed concern about the rejection of fundamental rights, including timely settlement of retirement benefits, and said retired employees were forced to run from pillars to seniors to receive retirement dues.
Rama Rao and Harish Rao spoke at the meeting, expressing deep concern about the state’s indifference, especially about retired employees. “As the main opposition, we are the main opposition standing by government employees, and it is our duty to retire after Congress comes to power. “We are not going to keep quiet and hundreds of thousands of employees suffer from negligent government pain.”
BRS leaders stressed the need for a clear action plan in the coming days. The party also announced support for the employees’ union leaders and urged union leaders, especially those who play a key role in the Telangana national movement, to participate in the re-fight.
The party leader said: “BRS always adheres to the aspirations and rights of employees. We are committed to working with them and putting pressure on the government to ensure justice.” The party leader said, adding that the party will soon announce a detailed strategy of action by gaining support from union leaders.
