Himaal Prabodh Saxena, chief secretary, came under fire for holding a Holi party in March last month, worth Rs 1.2 lakh. The party is organized for IAS officials and their families. The bureaucrat, who was extended for six months after retirement on March 31, faces opposition to the huge spending of the state’s Treasury accounts on social media. Criticism is when the northern countries face debt delays and delayed wages.

Luxury bureaucratic Holi party

Holi party at Prabodh Saxena’s tourist hotel holiday home in Shimla became the basis for criticizing the state Congress government facing the financial crisis. The price of lunch for IAS officials and their families is Rs 1,000, while the price for the 22-year-old driver is Rs 585 and the taxi fare is Rs 11,800, after which the bill has proven to be Rs 75,000, but after GST, the bill totals Rs 1,22,020. About 75 guests were present, including officials, their wives and children.

The bill was sent by the management of the hotel to the office of the chief secretary from which it was forwarded to the general administration of the Himaal Pradesh government. Many users shared images of the bill on social media, attracting opposition from users, government officials, opposition BJP, who criticized the government for wasting money and IAS officials for being busy.

Social Media Criticism

Users are targeting IAS officials primarily at the financial situation of Himaal Pradesh, not debt, pension stop and waiting for delayed payments. One user said: “Himal Pradesh has more than 10,000 million in debt and pensions are stopped. However, the chief secretary spent Rs 1.22 lakh on a Holi party for 75 IAS officials and their families and then sent the hotel bill to the state finance ministry. “The King” was busy issuing when people suffered.”

A BJP supporter said: “Welcome to Himaal Pradesh in Parliament where 200,000 employees have no wages, while the chief secretary threw Rs 1.222 crore. “The burden on Himaal Pradesh is over Rs 1 billion and pensions have been suspended. However, the chief secretary of Himaal Pradesh hosted a grand Holly Party for his 75 commanders (IAS officials) and their families – raising Rs 1,22,000 in food bills,” another wrote.
