The Canal City project will be launched in Kozhikode next year

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said the proposed “Canal City” project is a development plan that is being developed around the Connolly Canal in the city of Kozhikode, which will be launched and completed for three years next year.
He answered questions at a regional interactive event at the conference center in Cheruvannur, Kozhikode on Tuesday to mark the fourth anniversary of the left Democratic Front government on Tuesday. A selected group of about 500 people was invited to participate in the event.
Mr Vijayan said 10 acres of land would be obtained to increase the width of the canal to 14 meters. He said the project will cost Rs 1,118 crore.
The chief minister said an environmental impact study to deepen navigation channels around PayPal Harbor. He said the study will be completed by October.
Mr Vijayan said there were obstacles in the proposed tunnel to Wenard. Land has been obtained and tendered for engineering, procurement and construction. Developments in the region’s national highway expansion are progressing smoothly. Vengalam-Ramanattukara’s jobs reached 95%, while Azhiyur-Vengalam reached 65%.
Mr Vijayan said the proposed organ and tissue transplant institute will soon start operating from temporary facilities on the government medical school hospital campus. The state government will do everything possible to obtain the All India Institute of Medicine for Kerala.
Various private companies have invested Rs 88.5 billion in the Government Network Park in Kozhikode. Up to 14,965 jobs will be created there. Work at the memorial hall of PayPal writer Vaikom Muhammad Basheer is in its final stages. He added that this will be part of the proposed “Literary Circuit” that connects various literary figures in the Kozhikode, Malappuram and Palakkad areas.
