The Centre decides to send a delegation of parliamentarians to a key global capital a good move: Omar Abdullah

Srinagar: Welcomed the decision of the Centre to send delegations of parliament members to key global capitals to introduce the country’s position on Operation Sindor and opposition to cross-border terrorism, Jamu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said on Saturday that “it’s a good move”.

Speaking to journalists, Abdullah recalled that following the December 2001 parliamentary terrorist attack, the government sent similar diplomatic activities to delegations around the world to explain “Operation Parakram”, and India launched military buildings along the western borders.

He left to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to answer the latest statement from Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif that his country and India should sit at the dining table and solve outstanding problems, including Kashmir.

Abudra said the tourism industry in Kashmir was hit hard after the Pahargam terrorist attacks and subsequent developments. “This summer, there are few tourists coming here. We are now focusing on Amarnath Yatra and want to make sure every pilgrim is starting from here,” he said. “We want an annual pilgrimage without events and later, we will start looking at what we can do to promote tourism.”
