The Centre’s Caste Census Announcement is a victory for the people and government of Telangana: Bhatti

Hyderabad: Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka said here on Saturday that the central government announced the caste census was the pressure expressed here on Saturday by Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka.

The Telangana People’s Government conducted a scientific caste census, making the state a role model for the entire country. After India gained independence, only in Telangana, such a comprehensive caste census was successfully carried out without any objection.

The state government is committed to integrating the findings of this caste survey into its decisions. The results of the caste census should be brought to the public, and the backward class (BCS) should support the government.

At Khammam, leaders of the BC staff association and various caste organizations in BC paid tribute to Bati with their large shawls and extended their congratulations.

At a Philvit event held at the Praja Bhavan camp office in Khammam on Saturday, Bhatti said the central government announced the nationwide caste census to win the Telangana people and the Congress government.

He expressed his gratitude to the Telangana government to promote the Centre to make this decision. At the direction of AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi's opposition leader and Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, the Telangana government conducted a census of castes without any errors.

The state legislature passed a resolution that provided 42% of bookings to the BCS and submitted it to the center with great pressure. He also mentioned that a resolution was adopted during the meeting of the Gujarat Congress Working Committee (CWC) to demand a national caste census similar to that held in Telangana.

Barty said it was a question raised in parliament, which ultimately forced the center to agree to the national caste census.

He stressed that India has not conducted any caste census since 1930, and Telangana's initiative was the first successful effort since independence. He acknowledged that conducting such investigations was a complex task, but Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy himself was the Deputy Chief Minister, and the entire cabinet took on the challenge and completed the process within 50 to 55 days.

He clarified that the caste census not only collects information about castes, but also data on people’s economic, political and employment status, the distribution of natural resources among communities, and their living standards. These data will inform the government's future welfare and development policies.

Under his minister, the Ministry of Planning conducted the caste census with precision and error. The survey was conducted by making up 150-house neighborhoods, appointing enumerators, assigning one supervisor to every 10 blocks, and deploying a coordinator at the Mandal and district levels.

The process is closely monitored by regional collectors and state-level leaders, ensuring a smooth and unopposed investigation. The final result was presented at the conference and the bill was passed. He revealed that BC accounts for 56% of the state's population, resulting in a bill passing a bill that provides 42% reservations to local agencies and government work.
